UA Giving Day 2025: Find your reason to give

UA President Pat Pitney knows how important the botanical garden is to UAF students, employees and the broader Fairbanks community, and she will personally donate $1,000 to its upkeep if 49 alumni, friends and businesses donate to any UAF fund from 3-4 p.m. (Alaska time) on March 26!

When 1,000 alumni and friends donate to any program or scholarship, UA Foundation Director and Former Regent Mary K. Hughes will contribute an additional $10,000 to support Alaskans pursuing degrees in education across the UA system. As a University of Alaska alumna and long-time advocate for public higher education in Alaska, Mary K. understands the vital role dedicated educators play in building our state's workforce. She and her family have been steadfast supporters of UA, and she encourages all alumni to join her in supporting the next generation of Alaska's educators.

The Alaska Nanooks Hockey Alumni Association Challenges 10 alumni to support Nanooks cross-country for their next season to unlock an additional gift of $500. Once a Nanook, always a Nanook!

Excellence in Hockey Fund Challenge! When Giving Day donors reach 100 total donors, the Excellence in Hockey Fund will receive an extra $1,000 thanks to the generosity of Margorie Keene! Let’s rally together and hit this goal

When $5,000 in gifts are made to the WPM+RE Program Excellence fund, a $25,000 gift will be unlocked to the WPM+RE fund by Calais Company, Inc.

Dr. Carol Swarts urges supporters of education and scholarships to join her in backing undergraduate students in the UAF College of Natural Science and Mathematics. In honor of her friend and longtime UAF professor Kelly Drew, when 10 people support the CNSM Excellence in Undergraduate Education Fund, Dr. Swarts’ generous donation of $20,000 will be unlocked in support of the Professor Kelly Drew Physical Sciences Endowed Scholarship.

Phillip Andrews ’19, an Eagle Scout and wildlife conservation enthusiast, pursued a master’s in wildlife ecology at UAF, studying the great gray owl’s habitat. In his memory, his father, Simon Andrews, invites alumni and friends to support UAF’s College of Natural Science and Mathematics. When 10 people give, Simon will unlock a $9,000 gift to continue Phillip’s legacy of exploration and conservation.

Calling all UAF alumni! UAF alumni from all majors play a key role in Alaska's leadership in Arctic research and innovation by using their knowledge of the state's natural environment to advance various fields. UA President Pat Pitney challenges UAF alumni to make a gift to any fund that they are most passionate about. If 450 UAF alumni donate this Giving Day, President Pitney will donate an additional $2,000 to the College of Natural Science and Mathematics to inspire UAF students towards professional careers and public service through the lens of lifelong learning.

Alaska counts on our incredible engineers to find the solution to complex Arctic concerns. 75% of UA's grads stay in Alaska long-term, which is something to be proud of; the challenge at hand is ensuring bright students receive the support they need to enroll and graduate. Stephanie Erickson, Manager of ConocoPhillips' Greater Prudhoe Area and University of Alaska Foundation board member, challenges Alaska's engineers to be part of the solution. To represent 75% of alumni staying in Alaska, when we reach 750 donors to any program or scholarship, Stephanie will donate $2,000 split between UAA College of Engineering and UAF College of Engineering and Mines.

When 1500 alumni and friends donate to any program or scholarship, the John C. Hughes Foundation will contribute $10,000 to support Alaskans pursuing degrees in education across the UA system. As a founding member of the University of Alaska Foundation 50 years ago, John C. Hughes was deeply passionate about education. His lasting legacy continues to strengthen higher education in Alaska and support future educators in our great state.

Summit Chiropractic and Massage values the role athletic training plays in injury prevention and rehabilitation. Summit challenges 15 people to support the Nanook Sports Performance fund to unlock their additional gift of $500. Help keep our student-athletes strong!

Women's Basketball Challenge! When Seawolf Women’s Basketball reaches 100 donors, they’ll unlock an extra $2,000 thanks to the generosity of Beth Scott! Let’s keep the momentum going and hit this goal!

Calling all Nanooks hockey and animal lovers! Aurora Animal Hospital, owned by dedicated hockey fans Barb and Tyler Cole, love celebrating winning games with their animal patients. This Giving Day, when 49 animal lovers donate to Nanooks hockey or the CNSM Vet-Med Support Fund, Aurora Animal Hospital will unlock a $4,900 gift - making an impact in the classroom and on ice.

Join Dean Karsten Hueffer in supporting CNSM during this year’s Giving Day! Once 10 people make a gift to any CNSM fund, Dean Hueffer will unlock his $1,000 donation to the College of Natural Science and Mathematics Support Fund.

Calling all UAS alumni! UAS alumni of all majors provide leadership and perspective for our state. President Pitney challenges UAS alumni to make a gift to any fund that they are most passionate about. If 65 alumni donate this Giving Day, President Pitney will donate an additional $2,000 to be used for UAS' greatest needs as determined by Chancellor Aparna Palmer.
