For 49 Hours:
Give, Share, Celebrate!
Meet Dr. Erin Hicks:
Planetarium Director and Department of Physics & Astronomy faculty member
Erin Hicks is currently on sabbatical as she is part of two international collaborations that have been awarded observation time on the James Webb Telescope. Her groups are studying a number of topics, including nearby spiral galaxy NGC 4151 (shown in photo in UAA’s Planetarium and Visualization Theater) using a technique measuring moving gas to weigh super heavy black holes.
Her amazing work doesn't stop there as both of her proposals include additional funding for graduate and undergraduate research so local students will get the opportunity to examine data from this groundbreaking telescope.
