Longtime UAS employees and alumni Michael Ciri and Jeri Cary are both proud recipients of the Alaska GED. They know the importance of a welcoming path to higher education for those with a GED. After receiving their GEDs in Juneau, Michael and Jeri were both awarded scholarships to UAJ (later UAS). These scholarships helped them overcome feelings of personal failure and assured them that higher education was not closed to them. This set them on paths that led to multiple university degrees and long and happy careers serving their community at the same institution that had first opened its door to them. Michael and Jeri want that door to stay open, and they hope that an endowed scholarship can help ensure that it does.
