UAF Youth Programs


Your gift to Youth Programs inspires the next generation of leaders, scientists, artists and explorers across Alaska. Support expands access to hands-on science, music, leadership and academic enrichment experiences — from summer academies and statewide competitions to outdoor expeditions and 4-H programs. Together, we’re opening doors early and helping young Alaskans discover what’s possible.

Advocate for these priorities this UA Giving Day:

  • Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI): Help offer rural and Alaska Native high school students from across the state a 40+ years-running summer program that provides an opportunity to see life as a university student, develop college success skills and earn college credit.
  • UAF Inspiring Girls Expedition Support: Support tuition-free, 12-day backcountry field science and art program expeditions designed to empower high school-aged young women and gender-expansive youth.
  • Fostering Science Program Support: Break down barriers in science and summer camp participation for Alaskan youth in foster care by providing free outdoor adventure experiences in science, art and Indigenous culture.
  • GeoFORCE Alaska Support: Support students from the North Slope, Northwest Arctic and Interior in their exploration around Alaska and throughout the country to learn about geology and career paths in geosciences. Students are recruited in 8th or 9th grade and travel for four summe
  • UAF Summer Music Academy Support: Support the education and artistic activities of the UAF Summer Music Academy.
  • UAF Alaska Science Olympiad Support: Support this nationwide youth competition consisting of hands-on, team-based STEM tournaments including experimental design, knowledge tests and construction challenges.
  • National Ocean Sciences Bowl: Support ocean sciences academia among high school students with this exciting research presentation opportunity, trivia quiz bowl and summer camp hosted in Seward, AK in partnership with the UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.
  • Cooperative Extension Service 4-H Endowment Spendable: Support 4-H programs within Cooperative Extension Service for education, leadership, training or fundraising.

UA Launch Power Hour
If 200 donors make a gift in the first hour of UA Giving Day, the University of Alaska Foundation Board of Directors will collectively donate $5,500 to UA General Scholarship, a scholarship open to students at any of the University of Alaska's campuses.

To celebrate the Class of 2026, the 2026th donor this UA Giving Day will win a grant of $2026. The grant will bolster the donor's donation in a big way! The grant will be directed to the same University of Alaska initiative that the 2026th donor donated to.

1000th new donor wins $1000
To celebrate the efforts of UA Giving Day Champions spreading the word about their favorite programs this UA Giving Day, the 1000th new donor will win a $1000 mini-grant. The mini-grant will be directed to the same University of Alaska initiative that the winner donated to.
