College of Rural and Community Development Support: At the UAF College of Rural and Community Development, we offer academic and vocational education and outreach to campuses representing over 160 Alaska Native communities, serving Alaska by building strong individuals, and cultivating sustainable communities through developing a new generation of leaders.
Rural Student Services Support: Since 1969, the RSS program at UAF has prioritized culturally competent advising to support Alaska Native and rural students, fostering retention and matriculation through personalized guidance for academic success and creating a home away from home with welcoming community and strong relationships.
Rural Alaska Honors Institute: At RAHI, rural and Alaska Native high school students from across the state live, study, and play on the UAF Troth Yeddha' campus for six summer weeks, experiencing life as university students, developing college success skills, earning college credit, and benefiting from gifts that allow us to offer this 40+ year-old program at no charge.
Tamamta Fellowship: The Tamamta program aims to elevate the 14,000+ years of Indigenous stewardship and bridge Indigenous and Western science to transform graduate education, research, and governance in fisheries and marine systems.
Strengthening Alaska’s Native Languages: Established by state legislation in 1972, the Alaska Native Language Center serves as the major center in the United States for the research and documentation of Interior and Northern Alaska Native languages, cultivating and promoting Alaska's twenty Native languages internationally.
Bristol Bay Campus Support: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus (College of Rural and Community Development) enriches the quality of life through education for students in remote communities of Bristol Bay, Alaska Peninsula, Pribilof Islands, and the Aleutian regions of southwest Alaska.
Chukchi Campus Support: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Chukchi Campus (College of Rural and Community Development) inspires and develops students to contribute to their community's cultural and civic needs across a service area of more than 36,000 square miles, primarily serving Kotzebue along with eleven village communities and the Red Dog Mine site.
Interior Alaska Campus Support: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Interior Alaska Campus (College of Rural and Community Development) offers lifelong educational opportunities to Alaska Native peoples and Rural Alaskans in 46 communities and villages across a 200,000 square mile service area, spanning the Doyon and Tanana Chiefs regions throughout the interior of Alaska.
Kuskokwim Campus Support: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim Campus (College of Rural and Community Development) educates and prepares professional, community, and culturally rooted leaders within a healthy, active, and culturally relevant learning environment, serving the people of the Yup’ik, Cup’ik, and Athabascan lands of Southwest Alaska in Bethel and 56 surrounding villages, covering an area roughly the size of Oregon.
Northwest Campus Support: The University of Alaska Fairbanks Northwest Campus (College of Rural and Community Development) offers excellent opportunities for academic, vocational, and community education to the Bering Strait Region, serving 15 Alaska Native villages in addition to Nome within a 36,000 square mile area, equivalent to the size of the state of Indiana.
