The mission of the Community and Technical College (CTC) is to provide technical expertise and foundational knowledge to the university and the Alaska community. CTC builds Alaska's workforce and fosters student success through quality education and technical training.
CTC programs provide pathways, certifications and degrees in many high-demand industries including welding, construction management, aviation and automotive and diesel technology. It also provides support and foundational instruction courses. The college provides general education courses for math, writing and communication as well as the Learning Commons, which offers tutoring and academic support to all UAA students. Additionally, CTC is home to both the Army and Air Force ROTC.
CTC priorities:
- Provide outreach and training to the greater Alaska community, including the expansion of technical training in rural and outlying communities.
- Expand outreach and development to lift the story of CTC opportunities and offerings to the broader Alaska community through accelerated summer training and camps in the technical fields.
- Create an aviation safety center to focus on assessment and research of Alaska-specific safety factors and to develop training interventions for the aviation community to mitigate these risks.
