UAA College of Health - at the Forefront of Health Education in Alaska

Thank you for supporting the UAA College of Health during our first UA Giving Day 2020! You can still make a gift to support COH by visiting: engage.alaska.edu/uaa/health

The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development projects that jobs in health care and social assistance will grow by 21% in our state through 2026 — far more than any other industry. In some fields, like health care social workers and diagnostic medical sonography, the need is even greater.

Growing our health care workforce is the top priority for the College of Health. Our academic programs provide quality education to our students and our research activities play an essential role in the overall health and well-being of Alaska’s diverse communities.

The college is committed to investing in research that improves the health of Alaskans by addressing some of today’s most critical social issues, such as affordable housing, law enforcement, violence against women, immigration, veteran’s services and COVID-19 research.

Please help us continue this important work by making a gift today to:

  • The Excellence Fund, which directs gifts to the area of greatest need.

  • Nursing Endowed Scholarship: In Alaska, the five hardest health care positions to fill are all in nursing. The main reason students leave nursing school is financial hardship. This fund seeks to alleviate that hardship. (Gifts made to this fund will be matched dollar for dollar up to $30,000 by an anonymous donor.)

  • The Surgical Technology program is a two-year program awarding graduates an Associate of Applied Science degree. Since its inception in 2017, the program has graduated 22 students, all currently working in the field. Support is needed to meet growing workforce demands in this area.

  • The Summer Conference Series (TBA May 2021) features five virtual conferences on subjects like trauma and addiction, human trafficking and more. This conference is attended by UAA students as well as working professionals and is eligible for continuing education credit. Funding is sought to cover conference costs.
